New mental health program designed for college students

RADical Health is a new program being implemented in higher education institutions nationwide to provide support to college students struggling with mental health concerns, Forbes reported July 15.

The four-week program teaches students how to better manage mental health struggles before reaching a crisis point that may require professional help. The classes discuss healthy coping strategies, mindfulness, active listening and communication, self-care, decision-making and time management, according to the report.

The program was designed adhering to empirical research, advice from numerous behavioral health professionals and direct feedback from hundreds of students nationwide about their biggest mental health needs.

The program is completely funded by the RADical Hope Foundation, a youth mental health advocacy group, making it free to all students and institutions, and it will be implemented at over 30 colleges this fall.
