New Jersey is the state with the best mental healthcare for young people, according to a study conducted by Onyx Behavioral Health.
The study was based on 2023 data from Mental Health America, including factors like youth with at least one major depressive episode, students identifying with emotional disturbance and students with a substance use disorder.
Each factor was then given a score out of 10 per state to determine the state rankings, according to an email release shared March 18 with Becker's.
Here are the top 10 states for youth mental healthcare:

- Delaware
- Nevada
- Oklahoma
- North Carolina
- California
- Maryland
- Rhode Island
- Pennsylvania
