National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners launches pediatric mental health program

The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners has launched NAPNAP Cares, a program of online continuing education courses surrounding pediatric mental health.

The program will include 30 online courses to be released over the next 12 months that will be accessible at no cost to NAPNAP members, according to an email release shared June 14 with Becker's. The first 10 courses are available now, with another 10 being released in December and June 2024.

"Too many kids and teens today are struggling with mental health issues in the face of stresses at school, on social media or in their relationships," NAPNAP President Jennifer Sonney, PhD, APRN, said in the release. "When pediatric-focused NPs are able to confidently address these issues, it can be life-changing for young patients and help alleviate some of the strain on mental health specialists."
