Utah Gov. Spencer Cox is seeking roughly $186 million in the state's 2025 budget to address homelessness and behavioral health needs across the state, the Standard-Examiner reported Dec. 4.
The proposal designates $8 million for behavioral health services and $10.6 million to develop a court system concerning mental health cases, in addition to $128 million for the state's current shelter system, $10 million for affordable housing preservation and $30 million for "deeply affordable housing."
The proposal will be considered during the upcoming legislative session by Utah state lawmakers in January, the report said.
