San Francisco receives $34M grant for adolescent psychiatric facilities

The California Department of Healthcare Services has awarded a $33.7 million grant to San Francisco's Department of Public Health to build new youth mental health facilities.

The grant will finance new outpatient and inpatient services at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, according to the city's website. The expansion will include 12 inpatient beds and a 24-slot intensive outpatient program.

The new facilities are projected to care for a minimum of 450 people requiring inpatient care and 900 outpatient care individuals.

A timeline for construction will be decided in early 2023.

San Francisco was one of 54 awardees in the state that received grants from CDHS for behavioral health services.
