Illinois county dedicates $14M to behavioral health interventions

The Cook County (Ill.) Department of Health will award $14 million in grants over four years to expand mental health treatment and substance use prevention treatment.

The grants are funded under the American Rescue Plan Act and range in value from $250,000 to over $1 million. Applications for the grants are open through Dec. 7 and winners will be announced in January 2023, according to an Oct. 26 Cook County news release.

"The vision of achieving health equity for all residents of Cook County drives all of our work," Cook County Health CEO Israel Rocha said. "This grant program will allow us to support organizations in effecting positive change and implementing behavioral health strategies at the community level in areas where they are needed most."
