APA executive to receive presidential lifetime achievement award

Rawle Andrews Jr., executive director of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, will be recognized by national volunteer organizations and the Biden administration for his volunteer service in January.

To receive the President Joseph Biden Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service, honorees must positively affect their community and inspire others to make positive change through a minimum of 4,000 hours of service, according to a Dec. 15 news release from the American Psychiatric Association.

Mr. Andrews also serves as president of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and the Howard University School of Law, both of which are based in Washington, D.C.

"The greatest reward of doing good is always seeing its positive impact on the lives of others in the community — together we truly lift one another up," Mr. Andrews said in the release. "That is why service is, and will remain, a huge part of my life and our work across the APA family."
