Lakeview Behavioral Health, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based mental health and substance use treatment center, will begin treating patients with gambling addictions, according to a July 13 report from an ABC affiliate WDIO.
The implementation stems from a combination of two major factors: the cross addiction between gambling and substance use and the lack of agencies that offer gambling addiction treatment, Liz Erickson, treatment director of LBH, said in the report.
The program will offer personalized treatment plans and evidence-based therapies consisting of individual counseling, group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy and educational workshops addressing relapse prevention and coping skills, according to the report.
