Mercy, Concert share results of collaborative care model

The partnership between Concert Health, a behavioral health medical group, and Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy resulted in the implementation of behavioral health services in more than 10,000 patients' primary care settings.

Starting in 2021, the collaboration introduced a pilot program that provided behavioral health access to Mercy's primary care patients through 47 providers across nine clinics in Missouri. After its success, the program grew to comprise 150 clinics and 1,300 primary care providers across Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, according to a June 28 press release from Concert Health.

Here are notable results of the program, according to the release:

  • Ninety-one percent of primary care providers adopted the model.
  • Over 13,500 patients were referred to receive behavioral health services.
  • Once patients began treatment, anxiety and depression symptoms decreased within the first 90 days.
  • Forty-one percent of patients discharged from anxiety treatment achieved subclinical-level symptoms.
  • Thirty-eight percent of patients discharged from depression treatment achieved subclinical-level symptoms.
