Las Vegas pediatric mental health hospital doubles capacity, adds adult program

Desert Winds Hospital in Las Vegas has nearly doubled its capacity to provide more behavioral health beds in an effort to open up emergency room bed space, according to a July 6 report from CBS affiliate KLAS.

The hospital has added 94 beds to its established 108-bed capacity, bringing the total number of beds for its residential program to 202. The new beds will be available within a newly constructed unit for adult patients, as the hospital previously only treated patients between 12 and 17 years old.

The Adult Behavioral Health Recovery Program at Desert Winds Hospital will begin accepting patients July 17, the report said.
