Virginia governor designates $500M for youth mental health

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has designated an additional $500 million to support the state's behavioral health transformation plan, which was launched one year ago.

The Right Help, Right Now plan includes continuing to grow the state's 988 suicide and crisis lifeline system, launching a behavioral health reserve corps of volunteers and expanding school-based mental health services, according to a Dec. 14 news release.

Mr. Youngkin also announced the state's youth mental health strategy, which aims to address the components and harmful aspects of social media on youth mental health across the state through legislation and executive action.
