Connecticut psychiatric hospital adds ketamine treatment for depression

Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Conn., has added a ketamine treatment program for patients with treatment-resistant depression.

The program is available to adult patients with moderate to severe depression who have been unresponsive to at least two other antidepressant medication treatments, according to a Feb. 14 news release from the hospital.

The program is led by William Prueitt, MD, and will administer intravenous ketamine treatments twice weekly throughout the initial four-week treatment course. Patients will then receive tapered maintenance doses after the course to promote more lasting effects, the release said.
