Bureau of Indian Education launches mental health call line for students, teachers

The Bureau of Indian Education has launched a 24/7 mental health support line for students and teachers at bureau-funded schools and programs.

The support line is part of the BIE Behavioral Health and Wellness Program, according to a Feb. 1 news release. Callers will have two options when calling — around-the-clock crisis support or receiving information on non-crisis virtual counseling services.

The program, which is based on the American School Counselor Association's standards for school-based counseling, will also offer on-site crisis support at bureau-funded schools and programs in 2024.
