Here are 12 grants and donations expanding behavioral and mental health access Becker’s has reported on in February:

  1. Jawonio, an organization that aids individuals with disabilities and behavioral health issues, has been granted $2.2 million from the state of New York for a new behavioral health facility.
  2. The NBA Foundation has given a grant to Black Physicians of Utah, which will use the funding to expand mental health services for Black Utahns.
  3. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation spread a $500,000 grant across 10 community health centers to fund behavioral health services across the state.
  4. The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita received a $2.5 million grant to develop a pediatric behavioral health program for residents.
  5. Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky in Covington, a behavioral health facility, was gifted $150,000 on behalf of the city of Independence, Ky
  6. Michigan state leaders granted $7.9 million in federal funds toward behavioral health, crisis programs and combating gun violence.
  7. Health insurance provider Elevance Health added $1.6 million in additional grants to its support program for organizations working to address maternal and child healthcare needs. 
  8. CHRIS 180, a social services organization based in Atlanta, was one of five recipients in Georgia to receive a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
  9. The department of family medicine at the University at Buffalo (N.Y.) Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences received a federal grant to assist in the training of primary care residents in mental and behavioral healthcare.
  10. The Rare Impact Fund, created by singer and actress Selena Gomez, awarded $1.5 million in grants to organizations working to develop and expand global mental health services.
  11.  School resource organization Communities in Schools received a $165 million donation to expand support programs at 1,000 schools in the U.S.
  12. PESI, an education nonprofit group based in Eau Claire, Wis., donated $1.25 million to the University of Cincinnati medical school to support research on therapies for post-traumatic stress disorder.
