University of Buffalo receives $2.5M grant for behavioral health training

The department of family medicine at the University of Buffalo (N.Y.) Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences has received a federal grant to assist in the training of primary care residents in mental and behavioral healthcare.

The five-year, $2.5 million grant was awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, according to a Feb. 16 release from the university. The grant is under the primary care training and enhancement — residency training in mental and behavioral health program.

This program aims to train primary care residents in the identification, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a variety of mental and behavioral health conditions in pediatric, adolescent and young adult patients.
