NY grants Jawonio $2.2M for new behavioral health center

Jawonio, an organization that aids individuals with disabilities and behavioral health issues, has been granted $2.2 million from the state of New York for a new behavioral health facility, Rockland County Business Journal reported Feb. 26.

Jawonio will move its current services to the new 8,000-square-foot facility in Nanuet, N.Y.

Funding comes from a $658 million initiative to support 127 healthcare-related projects throughout the state and will go toward Jawonio's Personalized Recovery Oriented Services program.

PROS currently helps 200 individuals dealing with behavioral health challenges including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and substance abuse, as well as dually diagnosed clients, including those with a developmental disability and mental health diagnosis.

It also provides services for employment opportunities and job creation for dually diagnosed adults.
