The NBA Foundation has given nearly $1 million in grants to benefit Utah's Black community after Salt Lake City hosted the NBA All-Star Weekend Feb. 17-19, according to a Feb. 26 report from KSL.
One of the recipients was Black Physicians of Utah, which will use the grant to expand mental health services for Black Utahns. The grant will fund group counseling sessions led by Black therapists, along with the creation of a list of mental health resources.
The grant could also be used to supplement access to therapy for Black Utahns without insurance, the report said.
Another grantee was Community Options, which supports individuals with disabilities to gain access to employment services.
