18 behavioral health executive moves in 2025

Several behavioral health providers have named new CEOs, chief medical officers and more in 2025. 

Here are 18 moves to know: 

  1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health named Nicki Tessler, PsyD, as president of Lifepoint Behavioral Health. Dr. Tessler was CEO and co-founder of BeMe Health, a digital behavioral health provider for teenagers and young adults.

  2. Oceans Healthcare appointed David Rubin, MD, as chief medical officer. Dr. Rubin was most recently the director of the Division of Professional and Public Education for the Department of Psychiatry at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital and Mass General Brigham for Children.

  3. Guidelight Health promoted Steve Bewley to CEO. Mr. Bewley was appointed COO of the behavioral health provider in February.

  4. Forge Health, a mental health and addiction treatment provider, named Rondi Rabuse as CEO. Ms. Rabuse was most recently CEO of UCM Digital Health, a telehealth platform.

  5. The American Psychiatric Association selected Theresa Miskimen Rivera, MD, as its next president. Dr. Miskimen Rivera started her one-year term on May 21. She held several regional and national leadership roles at the APA throughout her career.

  6. Portland-based MaineHealth named Alex Keuroghlian, MD, as chief of MaineHealth Behavioral Health and chair of psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center.

  7. Atlanta-based Perimeter Healthcare, a national operator of acute care psychiatric hospitals and residential treatment centers, tapped Steven Merahn, MD, as enterprise chief medical officer.

  8. Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services named Chris Beamish as service line executive of mental health and addiction care.

  9. Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health selected Paul Smith as vice president of behavioral health.

  10. Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital named Donald Bearden, PhD, as its first chief of pediatric psychology and behavioral health.

  11. Dave Eldredge was named executive director of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, part of Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health. Mr. Eldredge, a licensed clinical social worker, has more than 25 years of leadership experience in behavioral health.

  12. Vancouver, Wash.-based Columbia River Mental Health Services appointed Craig Pridemore interim CEO. Mr. Pridemore’s appointment marked a return to the facility, as he served as its CEO from 2014 to 2020.

  13. Everett, Wash.-based Compass Health named Janet Carbary as CFO.

  14. Zobeida Diaz, MD, was named division director of women’s behavioral health at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, R.I.

  15. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based LifeStance Health selected Dave Bourdon as CEO. Mr. Bourdon had served as the company’s CFO since 2022.

  16. Milwaukee-based Wellpoint Care Network named Reggie Newson as CEO. He was previously chief community impact and advocacy officer for Ascension Wisconsin.

  17. The Haven at College named Jen Carvalho as CEO.

  18. Portland, Maine-based MaineHealth Behavioral Health named Melissa Bowker-Kinley, MD, as vice president of medical affairs, child and adolescent services.
