Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., will soon open a walk-in pediatric urgent care center to treat behavioral health concerns.
The center is the first of its kind in New York outside of New York City, according to a June 26 news release.
The new urgent care center will serve patients without an appointment from noon to 7 p.m., seven days a week. The center will be staffed by 30 caregivers, including psychologists, social workers, nurses and counselors.
Golisano Children's anticipates serving up to 3,000 patients a year at the clinic.
Mental health urgent cares have been growing in popularity, with more than 20 new sites opened in the past year, according to the Wall Street Journal. The centers can treat patients more immediately than an outpatient clinic, and at a lower cost than in an emergency room.
Golisano Children's Hospital is part of the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center. The facility is set to open July 15.
