The new hospital will contain a 50-bed maximum security unit, 175 adult beds and 50 adolescent beds, according to an Aug. 22 news release.

The project is slated for completion in late 2027.

The hospital is one of seven new construction projects announced by Gov. Greg Abbott on June 20, aimed at expanding access to inpatient mental healthcare. Since 2017, the state has invested $2.5B to replace, renovate or build new psychiatric hospitals.
