Many beds at Seattle-based University of Washington Medicine's new behavioral health facility are empty as the state grapples with who will represent patients committed to the facility, the Seattle Times reported Jan. 22. 

The number of drug-related emergency department visits increased by about 6% from 2022 to 2023, according to a report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Fewer than 1 in 5 US adults can accurately recall the number for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, a survey from the Annenburg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania found. 

Overdose deaths among teenagers declined slightly from 2022 to 2023, a shift that could mark the start of a decline in adolescent overdose deaths, according to an analysis from KFF.
