8 behavioral health payer updates

In the last 60 days, Becker's has reported on payers expanding their behavioral health offerings, and on their executives being tapped for roles in behavioral organizations.

Eight updates:

1. Cigna joined several other payers in covering a noninvasive neurostimulation device from BrainsWay that treats obsessive-compulsive disorder.

2. Evernorth's former CEO Tim Wentworth was named board chair at Forge Health Sept. 14, a value-based behavioral health provider.

3. Molina Healthcare of California is expanding its partnership with Healthcare in Action to San Diego County. The street-based medical group offers care to unhoused people and started providing care in partnership with Molina in Los Angeles County earlier this year. 

4. UnitedHealthcare's former CEO Ken Burdick was named CEO and chair at LifeStance Health Sept. 8, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based virtual and in-person mental healthcare provider.

5. Evernorth, Cigna's health services company, added new apps to help plan members manage insomnia, anxiety, alcohol and opioid use disorders and inflammatory conditions. 

6. Molina Healthcare of New Mexico is partnering with Tucson, Ariz.-based Pyx Health to offer behavioral health services centered around isolation support for Medicare members.

7. Aetna, Optum and Cigna were among the backers of digital youth mental health provider Hopscotch, which announced it had raised $8 million in seed funding Sept. 13. 

8. UnitedHealth Group has expanded its behavioral health network by 25 percent "over the last couple of years," COO Dirk McMahon told investors Oct. 14.
