The American Psychological Association’s “2022 COVID-19 Practitioner Impact Survey,” released Nov. 15, asked 2,295 psychologists how their practice has changed over the course of the pandemic.
The survey found the percentage of practitioners seeing all patients remotely dropped from 47 percent to 31 percent in the last year, while the percentage of psychologists seeing all patients in-person jumped from 4 percent in 2021 to 11 percent in 2022.
Though methods of care are still evolving, 96 percent of psychologists said the use of telehealth during the pandemic was an important therapeutic tool, and they will continue to offer telehealth services after the pandemic ends.
