Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta cut the ribbon on the Kisner Foundation and Friends Center for Pediatric Development, Behavioral Health & Wellness in Augusta, Ga., WRDW reported Aug. 10.
The facility consolidates pediatric clinics that had operated across different locations on the hospital campus, bringing specialists together in one location. It offers pediatric rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, developmental behavioral pediatrics and pediatric neurosciences. Pediatric psychiatry services are also expected to be added.
The center’s opening follows a $50 million investment from Tom Golisano, founder of Paychex. The gift — the largest in Wellstar and the children’s hospital history — resulted in Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia being renamed Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
The hospital also joined the Golisano Children’s Alliance, a national consortium of 12 children’s hospitals. It is the only member hospital in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina.
According to the 2025 State of Child Health and Well-Being Report, 24% of Georgia children have a mental, emotional or behavioral condition.
