Utah Gov. Spencer Cox is looking to make it easier for behavioral health professionals to become licensed in the state, KSL reported Jan. 9.
Mr. Cox unveiled the results of the Utah Department of Commerce's Office of Professional Licensure's review of behavioral health professionals, which found a lack of "extender roles" in the field across the state.
The office also presented a list of recommendations to update the licensing process, which includes establishing a new alternative supervision track, adding more flexible supervision hours and developing lower-level extender licenses to address the growing demand for behavioral health services in Utah.
