Texas behavioral health hospital audited by state

Houston-based Cypress Creek Hospital has been audited by Texas Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General.

Auditors focused their investigation on admission, commitment and consent requirements for patients receiving inpatient psychiatric services who are enrolled in STAR+PLUS, the state's Medicaid program for adults with disabilities or who are over 65 years of age, according to a Jan. 19 release on the Texas OIG's website.

The investigation found that the hospital met inpatient facility requirements and physician licensing rules, but needs improvement in processes related to documentation, timing of orders, patient consent and patient evaluations.

The hospital was given recommendations and has begun implementing solutions for these issues, according to the OIG's release.
