NYC Health + Hospitals selects Dr. Omar Fattal to lead behavioral health services

Omar Fattal, MD, has been selected to lead behavioral health services for NYC Health + Hospitals as system chief for behavioral health and co-deputy chief medical officer.

Dr. Fattal first joined NYC Health + Hospitals in 2010, most recently serving as deputy medical director in the office of behavioral health since 2020. He currently practices as a psychiatrist at the Pride Clinic at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, according to a Jan. 17 release.

Dr. Fattal co-founded the Lebanese Medical Association for Sexual Health, an organization focusing on health equity, sexual health and the health of marginalized groups such as LGBTQ individuals, women and girls, and people living with HIV.

He began his career at Cleveland Clinic in the department of psychiatry, where he established an LGBTQ clinic and a Spanish-language clinic. Dr. Fattal also teaches as a clinical associate professor in the department of psychiatry at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine.
