New York City-based Montefiore Health System is launching seven new outpatient programs to better support urgent mental health needs, pregnancy-related anxiety and depression, and eating disorders.

The programs will be funded by more than $18 million from the state and will be administered by Fidelis Care, Healthfirst, and MetroPlusHealth, according to a March 20 news release.

The new programs will include walk-in care for people with worsening depression, anxiety, acute stress, or substance use issues who might otherwise go to the emergency room. There will also be a women’s mental health perinatal intensive outpatient program for individuals experiencing anxiety or depression during and after pregnancy. Eating disorder programs, a partial hospitalization program for adolescents and young adults, an outpatient adult eating disorders program, and a first episode and early psychosis program will also be available.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place October 20–22 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
