Methodist Jennie Edmundson Behavioral Health in Council Bluffs, Iowa, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new 96-bed behavioral health hospital.
The hospital, slated to open to patients in June, is a joint venture between Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare, according to a May 19 news release. The facility will provide acute inpatient care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and electroconvulsive therapy for children, adolescents, adults and older adults.
The hospital includes outdoor spaces and a gym. It will be staffed by multidisciplinary care teams composed of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, social workers and other specialists.
Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, established in 1886 and affiliated with Methodist Health System since 1994, is a 236-bed regional healthcare center serving approximately 250,000 residents in western Iowa. The organization employs more than 800 employees and more than 300 physicians.
Acadia Healthcare operates 275 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 12,400 beds across 40 states and Puerto Rico, according to the release. The company has approximately 25,000 employees serving more than 84,000 patients daily.
