Coldwater, Mich.-based Insight Hospital and Medical Center will temporarily suspend its inpatient behavioral health services beginning July 22 after an evaluation identified the need to modernize the program’s physical space, operations and patient care, according to a July 15 report from News Channel 3.
Here are three things to know:
- The evaluation included feedback from stakeholders including physicians, caregivers and clinical leadership. The modernization project will focus on the physical environment, operational needs and supporting the increasing complexity of patient care, according to the report.
- Insight Hospital said the suspension will remain in place until planning, funding, construction, regulatory requirements and other necessary approvals for the project are complete. The hospital will continue providing behavioral healthcare through its ED and outpatient behavioral health program.
- The hospital is working with regional hospitals, community mental health agencies, emergency medical services and other healthcare partners to help ensure patients continue receiving timely inpatient behavioral healthcare during the suspension. A hospital spokesperson also told News Channel 3 that no employees will be laid off as a result of the temporary suspension.
