In-person and virtual mental healthcare visits have doubled among Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts members since 2019, according to data published Nov. 30 by the insurance provider.
The company reported approximately 4 million behavioral health visits in 2019. In the third quarter of 2022, there were approximately 8 million behavioral health visits, according to a Nov. 30 news release from the insurer.
Blue Cross' mental health provider network has grown by nearly 46 percent over the last five years, according to the release. In response to the newest data, the company said it intends to continue to add more providers.
