Illinois partners with Google to improve behavioral health resource access

The Illinois Department of Human Services has partnered with Google Public Sector to develop a youth behavioral health resources portal.

The access portal known as BEACON — short for Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation — will help Illinois families access behavioral and mental health resources for their children, according to a Jan. 29 news release from Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's office.

"We are doing away with decentralized, difficult-to-navigate behavioral health resources scattered across different agencies, providers, and websites," Mr. Pritzker said in the release. "Instead, families will have a modern, easy-to-use online system to guide them through the behavioral health universe."

The portal will be powered by Google Cloud's artificial intelligence and cloud computing technology, the release said.
