The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality will put millions toward studying patient-centered outcomes in behavioral health.
The agency will award up to 15 states funding to improve healthcare disparities, especially among individuals with Medicaid, who are uninsured or medically underserved, according to a Sept. 9 news release from HHS.
The grants will be worth up to $25 million over five years. States will form Healthcare Extension Cooperatives, coordinating Medicaid plans, safety-net providers, patients, caregivers and more.
"HHS is making this important new investment to improve the delivery of care for people who are underinsured or medically underserved, with an initial emphasis on behavioral health," HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said in the news release.
