George Mason University opens facility for 2 behavioral health centers

George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., has opened a new facility for its Center for Community Mental Health and Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health.

The Center for Community Mental Health is the main training clinic for doctoral candidates in clinical psychology, providing more than 2,100 therapy sessions and training 77 undergraduates and 57 graduate students in 2022, according to an Oct. 30 news release.

Meanwhile, the Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health offers training and consultation to the community's behavioral health workforce and has trained roughly 430 clinicians and clinical supervisors across eight county-based and 38 private behavioral health organizations.

The new location will allow community members to have more access to critical mental health services, the release said.
