The inpatient behavioral hospital is slated to open in spring 2025, according to a May 7 news release.
The hospital is Danville-based Geisinger’s second joint venture with Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare. The companies opened a similar behavioral hospital in Moosic, Pa., in 2023.
The new facility will provide adult, pediatric and adolescent inpatient care. It will also serve as a teaching hospital for students and residents at Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences.
Acadia has opened several joint-venture hospitals with health systems around the country, and has several underway. In recent months, construction has begun on joint facilities with Tufts Medicine, Ascension and ECU Health.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
