The “Move Your Mental Health” report used findings from studies published from 1990 to 2022.
“The new mental health care needs to recognize that a holistic approach is not only necessary, but will be cost-saving and lifesaving,” Cassandra Vieten, MD, PhD, clinical psychologist and executive director of the John W. Brick foundation, said in an Aug. 30 news release from the organization.
Three to five 30- to 45-minute sessions of moderate to vigorous physical activity showed the biggest effect on mental health, according to the report.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
