ECU Health, Acadia partner to open 144-bed behavioral health hospital

Greenville, N.C.-based ECU Health and Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare have partnered to open ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital, a 144-bed facility located less than a mile from ECU Health Medical Center, also in Greenville. The facility is set to open its doors to patients in September, according to an Aug. 25 ECU Health news release, and will offer inpatient and intensive outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

The hospital will also provide care for acute mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder and substance use disorders, according to the news release. It will also serve as a training site for students and residents through a partnership with ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. 

ECU Health is a 1,708-bed academic healthcare system serving more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties, according to their website. The system includes more than 14,000 team members, nine hospitals and over 185 clinics. 

Acadia Healthcare operates 274 behavioral health facilities with about 12,100 beds in 39 states and Puerto Rico, serving more than 82,000 patients daily, according to their website
