Behavioral health providers across the U.S. are expanding access to specialized psychiatric services, opening inpatient units, outpatient clinics and research centers to meet growing demand.
Here are 12 recent openings to know:
- White Plains, N.Y.-based Westchester County opened a safety-net mental health clinic following an increase in demand for services. The facility offers outpatient mental healthcare services for adults, including therapy, crisis intervention, medication management, group therapy, health assessments, referrals, peer services, interfaith support and treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- San Jose, Calif.-based Caminar opened its Teen and Family Wellness Center-Palo Alto (Calif.) to expand behavioral healthcare services for adolescents and families. The community-based mental health and substance use disorder provider offers in-person, telehealth and hybrid therapy options for adolescents ages 13-17.
- San Diego-based Alter Behavioral Health opened a 32-bed residential mental health facility designed to provide long-term residential mental health treatment in a community-oriented environment. The facility serves individuals experiencing depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and co-occurring disorders.
- Bucks County, Pa., will open a diversion, assessment, restoration and treatment (DART) center aimed at reducing criminal justice involvement for individuals with behavioral health needs. The center will begin accepting residents in March, including adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use issues in the criminal justice system.
- Topeka, Kan.-based Stormont Vail Health opened the Stormont Vail Outpatient Behavioral Health Center. The center offers individualized treatment plans, psychiatric evaluations, medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Southfield, Mich.-based Straith Hospital opened a specialized behavioral health unit designed to serve children and adolescents with autism and severe behavioral challenges. It features 12 inpatient beds for 24/7 care and provides behavior analysis as well as psychiatric and medical support.
- Westmont, Ill.-based Stella Mental Health opened its second Massachusetts location, expanding access to interventional psychiatry care in the Boston area. The Stella Newton clinic offers Spravato therapy, intravenous ketamine infusions, deep transcranial magnetic stimulation, accelerated TMS and psychiatric medication management.
- Orlando, Fla.-based APG Health opened a clinic in Lake Mary, Fla., to expand access to psychiatric care services and marking its third clinic in central Florida. The behavioral health organization serves more than 50,000 clients across the region, providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapy and counseling, and transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy.
- New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health’s Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research opened the Center for Psychedelics Research and Treatment at Zucker Hillside Hospital in Glen Oaks. The center oversees psychedelic research across Northwell’s 28-hospital system. It also includes the Feinstein Family Human Neuropsychopharmacology Laboratory, which features “a driving simulator, modular bar and living room spaces” to simulate real-world environments for clinical research.
- New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals opened two Elevate You clinics to provide behavioral and primary care services for people ages 16-25 as they transition between care levels, located at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull and NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. The initiative is designed to keep youth engaged in care as they transition out of pediatrics, reduce emergency room visits and improve long-term health outcomes.
- King of Prussia, Pa.-based Recovery Centers of America opened a new addition and mental health treatment facility in Mount Dora, Fla. The campus spans 19 acres and includes seven buildings, 124 beds and amenities such as a pool, basketball court and rock climbing wall and began welcoming patients in January.
- Pittsburgh-based Blackbird Health opened a clinic in Mount Laurel, N.J., to expand access to pediatric mental health services across Burlington County. The clinic offers in-person and virtual care for children, adolescents and young adults, including therapy, medication management, treatment for anxiety, depression and behavioral challenges, as well as assessments for ADHD and autism.
