California launches 2 free behavioral health platforms

The California Department of Health Care Services has launched two free behavioral health services apps for families with children, teenagers and young adults across the state.

The behavioral health virtual services platform is part of Gov. Gavin Newsom's Master Plan for Kids' Mental Health and the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, according to an email release shared Jan. 16 with Becker's.

The platform includes BrightLife Kids, which is designed for parents or caregivers and children between 0 and 12 years old, and Soluna for teens and young adults between 13 and 25 years old. The apps offer coaching services in both English and Spanish, as well as telephone coaching in all the Medi-Cal threshold languages.

The applications also include educational content, behavioral health assessments and tools, crisis and safety protocols, and care navigation services, the release said.
