Three members of the U.S. House have reintroduced a bill that would connect individuals in a behavioral or mental health crisis with follow-up services.
The Continuity in Necessary Evaluative Crisis Treatment (CONNECT) Act would authorize $30 million for a new grant program through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, according to a Jan. 12 news release.
The bipartisan act was introduced by Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) and David Trone (D-Md.). It returns to Congress two years after the launch of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline across the country and aims to provide follow-up care for those who call into the lifeline.
