The CEO of a Massachusetts behavioral health company has been sentenced to three and a half months in prison for a billing fraud scheme.
Miguel Saravia, CEO of Needham, Mass.-based Dana Group Associates pleaded guilty to six counts of healthcare fraud in September. He was previously the COO of Quincy, Mass.-based Prime Behavioral Health, according to a March 26 news release from the Justice Department.
Between 2017 and 2022, Mr. Saravia directed individuals with no billing or medical training to submit billing codes for therapy services that were not provided and to upcode for services more complex than those provided, according to the Justice Department.
Mr. Saravia was also ordered to pay $561,000 in restitution.
