91% of Meadows patients report positive well-being 1 year post-treatment

Wickenburg, Ariz.-based The Meadows released its 2024 annual report Dec. 4, presenting key findings from more than 5,000 patients across its behavioral health programs.

The Meadows used data collected by Vista Research Group to measure clinical outcomes, treatment satisfaction and long-term recovery. The system tracks patients-reported symptom severity during care and conducts follow-up surveys at one, six and 12 months, post-discharge. 

For 2024, outcomes were drawn from 4,283 patients who were asked to complete standardized assessments for depression, anxiety or PTSD. Patient satisfaction data was compiled from more than 20,000 surveys collected during and after treatment.

Six things to know:

  1. The Meadows served 5,266 people across inpatient, outpatient and virtual programs in 2024. 
  1. Completion rates were highest in inpatient programs at 88%, with a combined average of 74% across all settings. 
  1. Among the 538 patients with moderate to severe substance use disorders, 72% reported abstinence one month after discharge while 53% remained abstinent at 12 months — consistently higher than Vista’s national benchmarks.
  1. The portion of patients reporting moderate to severe depression fell from 74% at intake to 26% at discharge. 
  1. Patient satisfaction with treatment held steady at 85% to 86% across one-, six- and 12-month follow-ups. Group therapy was rated as very or extremely helpful by 71% of patients and 78% for individual therapy.
  1. Among reachable patients at one year post-treatment, 92% rated their overall well-being as excellent, good or fair.
