9 new behavioral health sites to know

Health systems are opening new outpatient, urgent care and inpatient behavioral health sites. 

Here are nine recent openings to know: 

  1. Danville, Ky.-based Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center expects to open a renovated inpatient behavioral health unit Aug. 4, according to the The Lane Report. 
  1. Springfield, Mo.-based Burrell Behavioral Health opened a new behavioral crisis care center in Sedalia, Mo., NBC affiliate KOMU reported July 18.

  2. Reno, Nev.-based Northern Nevada HOPES, a community health center, opened a walk-in behavioral health clinic in Reno, CBS affiliate 2NewsNevada reported July 16. 
  1. UPMC Altoona (Pa.), opened a behavioral health pod, a specialized addition to its emergency department, CBS affiliate WTAJ reported July 11. The site is designed to care for five to seven patients a day, and UPMC expects the pod to decrease the number of patients requiring long-term psychiatric inpatient care by 20%. 
  1. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health opened a $1 million youth mental health center in Mount Kisco, N.Y., Rockland/Westchester Journal News reported July 14. The facility provides walk-in crisis youth mental healthcare and outpatient services for patients up to age 21. 
  1. Las Vegas, Nev.-based University Medical Center opened a 17,000-square-foot psychiatric crisis and detox center. The site, which has 35 outpatient chairs, received $11.3 million in state funding. 
  1. A 16-bed, $9 million secure residential treatment facility is set to open in East Salem, Ore., the Salem Statesman Journal reported June 29.

  2. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Lakeview Behavioral Health cut the ribbon on a new outpatient behavioral health site in Brainerd, Minn., Lakeland PBS reported June 26. 
  3. Flint, Mich.-based Genesee Health System opened an $8.2 million behavioral health urgent care center in Flint, ABC affiliate 12News reported June 18.
