23-hour crisis center opens in Virginia

A new crisis center has opened in Danville, Va., CBS affiliate WDBJ reported Feb. 20.

The center is operated by Calm Source and will be open for patients experiencing a mental health crisis who can receive treatment there for up to 23 hours. They will be diagnosed by a therapist or psychiatrist and then referred to the next level of care before leaving.

The new location is the second 23-hour crisis center in the area, and Calm Source is looking to bring on additional staff to keep it open seven days a week, the report said.
