Once completed, the 200,000-square-foot behavioral health facility will replace Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Okla., which currently serves as the state’s primary mental health hospital.
The Donahue Behavioral Health facility will offer inpatient care for adults and adolescents, as well as referrals for outpatient care. The facility will also contain an urgent recovery center for walk-in patients requiring immediate care.
OSU is also building a 106-bed, $70 million psychiatric care center in Tulsa, Okla., which is slated to open in the next year.
“When these two facilities are completed, they will catapult Oklahoma into the national spotlight for the way we are addressing and meeting the health care needs of our citizens,” Kyle Wray, OSU’s senior vice president of system affairs, said in a March 28 news release.
