The Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $89.3 million through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program to expand substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery services in rural communities.
The funding will support rural communities in 45 states and one territory, according to a Sept. 25 news release from the agency.
Here are the four funding awards:
1. $62.7 million for RCORP-Impact: The funding will expand access to integrated and coordinated substance use disorder treatment and recovery services, strengthen the rural substance use disorder workforce, coordinate health and supportive services and develop community networks to support sustained recovery.
2. $12.6 million for RCORP-Overdose Response: The funding will help rural communities address immediate substance use disorder needs, reduce overdose risk and strengthen access to prevention, treatment and recovery services.
3. $10 million for RCORP-Technical Assistance: The funding will provide RCORP award recipients with tailored technical assistance to implement and sustain behavioral health prevention, treatment and recovery services.
4. $4 million for RCORP-Planning: The funding will help rural communities build partnerships, assess local needs, develop action plans, strengthen provider capacity and expand sustainable access to substance use disorder and related behavioral health services.
