10 states with the highest percentage of behavioral health referrals

Ohio contributed the highest portion of behavioral health referrals of all 50 states and Washington, D.C., in 2022, according to data from Definitive Healthcare.

Referrals for patients in the state of Ohio accounted for 12.5% of all behavioral healthcare referrals in the U.S. that year.

Here are the 10 states that accounted for the largest percentage of behavioral health referrals in 2022:

1. Ohio (12.5%)

2. New York (11.8%)

3. California (6.7%)

4. Michigan (6%)

5. Kentucky (4.6%)

6. Florida (4.1%)

7. Indiana (3.5%)

8. Massachusetts (3.3%)

9. Minnesota (3.3%)
