Ohio school gifted $50K to support student athlete mental health

Youngstown (Ohio) State University has received $50,000 for new wellness programs to support the mental health of its student athletes, CBS affiliate WKBN reported April 6.

The funds were donated by the Horizon League, a collegiate athletic conference, and will go toward training coaches and staff in mental health first aid and wellness programs like yoga. 

Youngstown State is one of several schools beginning to implement mental health support for students. By the end of 2024, the NCAA will require all Division I schools to have a psychologist for student athletes, according to WKBN.
