Girl Scouts of the USA, HCA Healthcare partner on new mental health programming

Girl Scouts of the USA has launched three new mental wellness patches as part of an initiative which first launched in 2021 to raise awareness for the mental health needs of young girls across the country.

The patches were supported by HCA Healthcare Foundation and developed in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which includes HCA Healthcare behavioral health experts, according to a Sept. 19 news release.

The "Knowing My Emotions" patch teaches members in grades four and five about positive coping skills and how to name their feelings. The "Finding My Voice" patch teaches members in grades six through eight about mental health stigma, social media mindfulness, self-care and how to help their friends.

For members in grades nine through 12, the "Showing Up for Me and You" patch teaches twelve tactics for practicing self-care and coping mechanisms for difficult mental health situations.
