New York City will receive another $33 million to bolster behavioral health resources.
New York state’s Behavioral Health Centers of Excellence will provide the funding, according to a March 17 news release from Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Health + Hospitals.
NYC Health + Hospitals in March 2024 launched a three-year blueprint to improve its behavioral health services. The 11-hospital system received $41 million in funding from the state for the initiative in 2024.
In the year since launching, the system has added 225 psychiatric beds and renovated seven inpatient units, according to release. The system has also added more than 70 staff to its outpatient mental health sites and opened school-based mental health clinics.
